Saedi's Guide For Newbies 1- Skins and Shapes
It's really really sad that nowadays people in the grid are so mean to the newest members of Second Life. How behind their backs they will talk in IM or even outside of IM about their unattractive skins or the dreaded duckwalk or how they have no idea with the hell to do with themselves. How do I know this? Sadly I used to be one of those people... I'm not perfect and of course I would laugh with the people. To those of you who are struggling with just getting up there in the virtual grid, I apologize deep from my heart. Because I like many other people had forgotten that just like you, I had been a noob once I started playing. The only difference with me was that I had help in the beginning from my cousin Wolfie. I'm sure that when most of you start playing, you are alone in a world of professional grid walkers. Well, no more! I see no reason why I can't tell you how to be at your peak at only two days old. It's easier than you think.
When I met my sister, Reyna who at the time was way new, she was duckwaddling around the exotic club, Atlantis (which since then has closed...) with hair that could make you cry and a skin that would do the same. I took her in as a friend and started giving her her makeover. With this...she because this beautiful woman in a couple of days since logging in for the first time:
So if she can make it...so can the rest of you wondering what the hell to do with yourself. Here are some ways to get started.
*First off- remember that MARKETPLACE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND.
Many people especially noobs don't even know the treasure room that is Marketplace or as some people call it, MP. There are many items for sell there; not as many as in world but still quite enough to look around at. I will be giving some examples from there, but keep in mind that there are many sims that have freebies all over it (they just won't be as good quality, I think.) Just make sure you are signed in to SL's website and you are free to browse, bye and make a favorites list.

SHAPES
Hey, guess what? Your body can look good in SL! No really it can. It doesn't have to look like some stick figure. There are plenty of shapes to choose from on MP and you can get them totally free. Now there are some that are 1L or even up to 10L but if you have that saved up then go for it. But this is for the noobs that have nothing to their name.
Here are some examples:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Shape-Josh/4797763 (one for the men)-0L
These might not be to your taste...so take a look around and pick the one that's right for you. Also you can use a modifiable shape and make it look the way you want as I did with mine. It's all up to you and that's the fun in it.
SKINS
Now you are probably wondering how come you don't look like that man or woman in the picture? Well the reason for that is because you have to have a skin. Skins, like shapes come in all varieties and just like shapes they can be free on MP.
TuTy's is pretty good with freebie skins.

Keep in mind that skins are more popular than shapes so even looking for a completely free one is very hard. But saving up from camping can help with that. Just like with the shapes...keep looking until you find the one that is all you.
Hey look! You look decent! It's a start! Here is were I will stop but in my next Newbie post, I will explain about AOs and the many ways you can get more quality stuff for free!
Stay tuned and happy shopping!
